Short answer: There is no audited Indian cost-per-lead dataset, so this report collects every public 2025–2026 figure we could open and grades each source. The strongest India numbers: Meta CPC median about $0.10 and CPM about $1.35 (Superads, Jul 2025–Jul 2026), WhatsApp marketing messages ₹1.09 and utility ₹0.145 each (BSP-published Meta rates from 1 Jan 2026), digital ad spend ₹71,621 crore in 2025 growing 17% a year (dentsu-e4m), and a 30–45% site-visit no-show rate in real estate (ANAROCK via Pitch). Indian agency CPL ranges (₹150–₹1,500 on Meta, ₹300–₹3,000 on Google, by industry) are quoted as what agencies publish, not as measured averages. Use them to size a first test budget, then replace them with your own CRM data within 90 days.
How should you read these benchmarks?
Every figure below was read on the cited page on 25 October 2026. Nothing is estimated or averaged by us. Where a source gives a range, the range is kept. Each source carries a grade:
- A: platform documentation or a large-sample dataset (Meta, Unbounce, LocaliQ/WordStream, Superads).
- B: an established industry body or trade press reporting a named study (dentsu-e4m, Pitch Madison, GroupM/WPP Media, Pitch quoting ANAROCK, PayScale).
- C: an agency or vendor blog with no stated sample or method. These tell you what Indian agencies quote, not what the market measures, and they disagree with each other.
The honest summary: the only large-sample India numbers are for Meta CPC and CPM, WhatsApp message prices and total ad spend. Everything about cost per lead in rupees is grade C. If a vendor shows you an "India CPL average" without a sample size, it is a planning range, not a benchmark. For the CPL detail and a break-even calculator, see our cost per lead guide for India.
What do Meta and Google clicks cost in India?
Superads aggregates more than $3 billion of Facebook spend across thousands of accounts and publishes country medians (grade A/B, labelled "directional"). For India, between July 2025 and July 2026 the Facebook CPC median averaged about $0.10 (starting at $0.191 in July 2025 and ending at $0.168 in July 2026) and the CPM median about $1.35 (from $1.59 to $5.02 over the same window). Both sit roughly 90% below the global medians the same tracker reports (about $1.05 CPC and $20.59 CPM). A February 2026 dip to $0.025 CPC looks anomalous; use the window average, not the extremes.
| Metric | Value | Period | Source (grade) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Meta CPC, all industries, India median | ~$0.10 average (Jul 2025: $0.191; Jul 2026: $0.168) | Jul 2025–Jul 2026 | Superads (A/B) |
| Meta CPM, all industries, India median | ~$1.35 average (Jul 2025: $1.59; Jul 2026: $5.02) | Jul 2025–Jul 2026 | Superads (A/B) |
| Facebook / Instagram CPM, India | $1.00–$1.80 / $1.50–$2.80 (US reference $16–$21 / $20–$28) | Mar 2026 | Adligator (C) |
| Meta CPC by industry, India | Ecommerce ₹7–30 · Education ₹10–25 · Real estate ₹20–60+ · Healthcare ₹12–30 · Local services ₹5–20 | Sep 2025 | Marketing Monster (C) |
| Meta CPM by placement, India | FB Reels ₹25–60 · IG Reels ₹30–80 · IG Stories ₹50–120 · FB Feed ₹50–130 · IG Feed ₹80–150 | Feb 2026 (upd. Oct 2026) | Vgraple (C) |
| Google Search CPC, India | ₹20–150 typical; competitive industries above ₹100; CTR 3–7% | Jun 2026 | MegaDigital (C) |
| Google Search CPC by industry, India | Real estate ₹40–250 · Healthcare ₹20–120 · Education ₹15–80 · B2B services ₹40–300 · SaaS ₹50–350 | Aug 2026 | Thinkster (C) |
| Google CPC, India vs US | India about 77% below the US average (US Search CPC $1–$2) | Page updated Sep 2025; chart data older | WordStream (B) |
What this means for planning: a ₹30,000 monthly Meta budget at a ₹10 CPC buys about 3,000 clicks, and the question is what fraction become qualified enquiries, which no public source measures for India. That is why the next two sections should be read together.
What cost per lead do Indian agencies publish by industry?
These are the ranges Indian agencies quote on their own blogs. None of them states a sample size or method, and they overlap only loosely, so treat them as the spread you might see in a first month, not as a target.
| Industry | Meta lead ads (₹) | Google Ads (₹) | Sources (all grade C) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ecommerce / retail (lead or purchase) | 150–500; 100–300; cost per purchase 500–2,000 | 300–800; Google CPA by sub-vertical 200–3,000 | Morphiaas, Marketing Monster, Vgraple, MegaDigital |
| Education / coaching | 200–600; 150–400 | 400–1,000; CPA 400–700 | Morphiaas, Vgraple, Marketing Monster, MegaDigital |
| Healthcare / clinics | 250–700; 200–600 | 500–1,500; CPA 500–900 | Morphiaas, Vgraple, MegaDigital |
| Real estate | 400–1,200; 400–1,500; qualified lead in metros 300–1,500; by ticket size 500–1,300 (under ₹40 lakh) to over 4,000 (₹3 crore+) | 800–2,500 | Morphiaas, Vgraple, The Mediaverse, Insomniacs |
| B2B / SaaS | 500–1,500; 500–2,000; by targeting 300–2,500 | 1,000–3,000; IT services 900–2,800 | Morphiaas, Vgraple |
| Finance and insurance | 350–900; 300–1,000 | 700–2,000; CPA banking 300–400, insurance 800–1,200 | Morphiaas, Vgraple, MegaDigital |
| Local services / restaurants / wellness | 80–250; fitness 100–300 | not published | Vgraple |
For a developed-market reference, LocaliQ's 2026 search benchmarks (grade A, mostly US accounts) put the all-industry median search CPL at $66.69, with real estate at $102.51, education at $77.48, dentists at $72.97 and business services at $93.69. WordStream's Facebook lead-gen benchmarks (2023–24 data, older) report a median CPL of $21.98. These are not India numbers; they show why a ₹500 Indian lead can be "expensive" for a tuition centre and "cheap" for a developer.
What conversion rates should a landing page or lead form achieve?
The largest public dataset is Unbounce's Conversion Benchmark Report (grade A, 41,000 landing pages, 464 million visitors, 2024 data published March 2025, geography not split). Its headline numbers:
- Median landing page conversion rate across all industries: 6.6%; industry medians run from 3.8% to 12.3%.
- By traffic source: email 19.3%, paid social 12%, paid search 10.9%. Within paid social, Instagram 17.9% and Facebook 13%; within paid search, Google 11.3%.
- 83% of visits are mobile, yet desktop converts about 8% better; copy at a 5th–7th grade reading level converts 11.1% against 5.3% for professional-level copy.
On the ad side, LocaliQ's 2026 edition reports an all-industry Google Search conversion rate of 8.18% (7.52% in the 2025 US edition), and WordStream's older Facebook lead-gen data a median of 8.78%. Indian campaigns running Meta instant forms often see higher form-fill rates than these, because the form is pre-filled; the cost shows up later as lower contact and qualification rates. See how to reduce fake and duplicate leads and how to track qualified leads, not form fills.
What are Indian real estate lead-to-site-visit and booking rates?
No portal or consultancy publishes an audited funnel. The strongest data point is trade press quoting ANAROCK (grade B): in May 2026 Pitch reported site-visit no-show rates of 30–45%, real estate digital marketing budgets growing 20–30% a year because of rising ad rates and longer conversion cycles, and some large builders holding customer acquisition cost at 2.5–2.8% (the article does not state the unit). One developer, Teerth Realties, reported 40–50% lower cost per qualified lead on YouTube, LinkedIn and WhatsApp API than on search and display.
Vendor blogs (grade C) give funnel shapes that are useful as a sanity check: Insomniacs calls one site visit per 10 leads "excellent"; The Mediaverse uses illustrative brackets of one visit per 4, 8 or 15 leads and explicitly labels them "not benchmarks"; Realatic quotes lead-to-booking of 1–3% nationally, 1–2.5% without a CRM and 3.5–6% with one, and portal-lead first-response times of 4–6 hours. The practical conclusion holds across all of them: at a ₹800 CPL and one visit per eight leads, a site visit costs ₹6,400 before any no-show, so follow-up speed and qualification before the visit matter more than another ₹100 off the CPL.
What does the WhatsApp Business API cost in India in 2026?
Meta's developer documentation (grade A) confirms the timeline: per-message pricing replaced conversation pricing on 1 July 2025; India's marketing rate rose on 1 January 2026; INR billing became available on 1 January 2026 and is mandatory by 31 December 2026; and from 1 October 2026 service replies and in-window utility messages are charged again, with the first 1,000 service messages per business phone number per month free. Meta's page did not render the numeric India rate card for us, so the rupee figures below are as published by business solution providers; verify them against your own INR rate card.
| Message category (India) | Rate from 1 Jul 2025 | Rate from 1 Jan 2026 | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Marketing | ₹0.86 | ₹1.09 | MyOperator; AiSensy (B) |
| Utility | ₹0.13 | ₹0.145 | same |
| Authentication | ₹0.13 | ₹0.145 | same |
| Service (customer-initiated replies) | Free within the 24-hour window | First 1,000 per number per month free, then ₹0.145 (from 1 Oct 2026) | AiSensy; Meta docs for the free tier |
Platform fees come on top and are published openly: AiSensy core plans from ₹1,500 a month; Gallabox Basic ₹2,399–2,999, Essential ₹5,599–6,999 and Advanced ₹13,599–16,999 a month depending on billing term; Interakt Starter and Growth ₹2,499 and Advanced ₹3,499 a month plus taxes. GST of 18% applies to all of it. Click-to-WhatsApp ads give a free entry window after the user messages (7 days on developers.facebook.com, 72 hours on whatsappbusiness.com; the two Meta pages differ). Full worked monthly bills are in our WhatsApp Business API cost guide.
How fast is digital ad spend growing in India?
| Report (grade B) | 2025 | 2026 forecast | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| dentsu-e4m Digital Advertising Report 2026 | Total AdEx ₹1,21,339 crore (+8.3%); digital ₹71,621 crore (+19%), 59% of total | Total ₹1,30,416 crore; digital reaching ₹98,034 crore by 2027 (17% CAGR, 70% share) | Social ₹21,057 crore, online video ₹20,004 crore, paid search ₹16,581 crore in 2025; e-retail platforms +55.9% |
| Pitch Madison Advertising Report 2026 | Expanded AdEx ₹1,55,105 crore; expanded digital ₹93,156 crore (includes MSME and quick-commerce); core digital ₹53,342 crore | ₹1,74,605 crore total (+12–13%); digital ₹1,11,976 crore (+20%), ~64% share | MSME digital ~₹42,976 crore in 2026 (+20%); quick-commerce ads ~₹6,000 crore (+50%) |
| WPP Media TYNY midyear 2026 | GroupM TYNY 2025: ₹1,64,137 crore (+7%), digital above 60% | $22.5 billion (~₹2 trillion, +8.8%); digital and social $8.3 billion (+13.2%); retail media $3.9 billion (+29%); TV $4.9 billion (−6.8%) | Different definitions from dentsu and PMAR; cite the publisher each time |
For a lead-generation business the relevant line is that search, social and video budgets are growing 16–22% a year, so auction prices for the same audience rise even when nothing changes in your account. A CPL that held flat year on year is a win.
What do B2B leads, meetings and SDRs cost in India?
- SDR salaries (grade B, small samples): PayScale reports an average base of ₹7.3 lakh a year (10th–90th percentile ₹3.46–10 lakh, 71 profiles); RepVue, which skews to SaaS, reports a median base of ₹13.3 lakh and on-target earnings of ₹19.3 lakh; Glassdoor's lead development representative average is ₹6.55 lakh (14 salaries).
- Appointment setters: Wisemonk (grade C, citing Glassdoor and SalaryExpert) puts entry pay at ₹3.4–3.6 lakh, median ₹4–4.3 lakh and senior ₹4.8–5.2 lakh a year, with statutory add-ons of about 7–8%.
- Pay-per-meeting: no India price list could be found; Saleshandy's directory lists ten Indian pay-per-appointment agencies, none with published prices. Global references from Leadium (grade C) run $50–300 per SMB meeting, $300–600 mid-market and $600–1,500+ for C-suite, with retainers of $3,000–10,000 a month.
- B2B ad costs (grade C): Meta CPL ₹500–2,000 and Google CPL ₹1,000–3,000 (Morphiaas, Vgraple); Google CPC ₹40–300 for B2B services and ₹50–350 for SaaS (Thinkster).
Our B2B appointment setting guide works through break-even on these inputs, and the B2B lead generation cost guide compares in-house, agency and pay-per-meeting models.
How should you use these numbers?
- Size the first test from the grade-C ranges, then stop using them. A ₹30,000 first-month Meta budget at a ₹400 CPL implies about 75 leads; plan the follow-up capacity for that, not the CPL.
- Judge the test on grade-A platform data plus your CRM. Your own CPC against the Superads India median tells you whether targeting or creative is the problem; your contact and qualification rates tell you whether the leads are real.
- Model the whole funnel, not the lead. Use the real estate ratios as a template: CPL × leads-per-visit × (1 + no-show rate) is the cost of a held site visit. The same arithmetic applies to demos and consultations.
- Budget for WhatsApp follow-up explicitly. At ₹1.09 per marketing message and ₹0.145 per utility message, a 5-message nurture on 75 leads costs under ₹400; the platform fee is the real cost.
- Replace every number here with yours within 90 days. Our lead tracking and attribution setup exists so that you can.
